7 proven ways to overcome laziness and procrastination

Laziness and procrastination are common problems. For example, if a friend invites you to go out and have fun, you will not procrastinate because you are interested in doing so; on the other hand, if someone tells you to study, you will procrastinate because you are not interested in doing so. So the first step to overcoming laziness and procrastination is to develop an interest in what you are doing. There are many methods to overcome laziness and procrastination. Let’s see this one by one.

How to avoid laziness and procrastination.

1.) Locate and eliminate the source of the distraction.

One day, you write notes for each hour of the day, including what you did in that hour, so you can thoroughly analyze your day and see where your time is going and what is distracting you. Once you find that, then control them.

2.) The Pomodoro method

The Pomodoro technique is a very effective technique to overcome laziness and procrastination. The Pomodoro technique involves five steps.

Step 1: Select a task to complete and write it down somewhere.

Step 2: Time yourself for 25 minutes.

Step 3: Complete the task you’ve written down until the timer goes off.

Step 4: Now, take a 5-minute break.

Work for another 25 minutes and take a break.

Step 6: Repeat this process 3-4 times before taking a 25-30 minute break.

3.-Write down your task in advance.

Every night before you go to bed or every morning after you wake up, write down all the tasks you need to do by the end of the day. If you already write down all the tasks, then you don’t have to waste time thinking about what to do. This will be a very helpful trick to avoid laziness and procrastination.

4.) Refrain from multitasking.

You can’t do many things at a time. Try to do one task at a time. This will be comfortable for your brain and your body. Also, if you decide to multitask, your brain will be overloaded and you will not be able to do anything, so better avoid it.

5.) Re-energize your mind and body.

Drink enough water, and get a good sound sleep. That will help you to complete your task, but if you think scrolling reels and tik-tok are refueling you, then you are wrong. In fact, they are draining your energy because your brain is receiving information that is not necessary.

6.) Be cautious

If you feel tempted to open your social media, just stop before opening it and think about why you need to open your social media. Is there any profit I will get when I open social media or just I will waste my time? You will automatically get an answer, then get back to your work.

7.) Disable all app notifications.

When you get any notification, you just take your phone to check the notification but end up opening all the apps like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. So turn off all the notifications except a few which are important for you and decide a time in which you will open other apps and check notifications. Set a timer. As soon as time ends, turn off all the apps.

Reward yourself.

Now it’s time to reward yourself after you have successfully implemented the method mentioned above. It can be anything, either implementing the Pomodoro technique, logging off from social media, or completing the task which you have written in the morning. So congratulate yourself and treat yourself.

But it is not as easy as it sounds. You can not overcome laziness and procrastination overnight. It will take time. But if you are dedicated, you can do it and baby steps, then you will be surprised by the result. But you have to start writing down these points in one place and whenever you feel like procrastinating, read all these points again.

Write down in the comment box which point you liked the most.
